If you’re a founder, here’s what you need to know about our new fund:

  1. This $90M is exclusively for founders building insanely ambitious, incredibly hard, and radically important companies to solve the world’s biggest problems.

  2. Most of our companies look like Solugen -- grand, hard, important. We help founders build companies like Astranis, Varda, Nobell Foods, and UPSIDE Foods (fka Memphis Meats). All Fifty Years portfolio companies are solving the world’s greatest problems.

  3. We consider ourselves company builders more than investors. Our team is full of insanely ambitious former founders. We love partnering with founders at the earliest stages.

  4. And we mean early. We were the first VC to partner with Solugen (now valued at $1.8B) and Astranis (now valued at $1.4B) and led both companies' pre-seed rounds.

  5. We roll up our sleeves and help. Our motto is: “Always available, never annoying”. You want help wrenching? Invite us over. Need a Founding Chemist? We got you covered. Need a place to stay in SF? Crash at our HQ.

  6. Our first core value is “Founders First”. That’s why we’ve decided to raise from the most legendary entrepreneurs of the last decade. We assembled this “League of Giants” to give our portfolio founders the wisdom, expertise, and networks of the world’s best founders. We have 44 founders of unicorn tech companies valued between $1B and $100B as our LPs, including the founders of:

    • Skype

    • Spotify

    • GitHub

    • Klarna

    • Dropbox

    • Snowflake

    • Zendesk

    • Twist Bioscience

    • Supercell

    • Minecraft

    • Google Brain

    • The Climate Corporation

    • AmRest

    • Sprout Social

    • Rovio

    • Kahoot!

    • Stemcentrx

    • Wise

    • Bolt

    • Google Maps

    • Mercury

    • Jazztel

    • Viatel

    • Eolia

    • Automattic / Wordpress

    • Upstart

    • Gluu Mobile

    • Virgin Group

    • Solugen

    • Astranis

    • Opentrons

    • UPSIDE Foods

  7. We’re proud that every single founder of our own unicorn portfolio companies chose to join as an LP.

  8. Fifty Years is trying to change venture capital by bringing it back to its roots of backing technically ambitious teams building real, meaningful things instead of the latest avatar making AI whatever.

  9. We're sector agnostic and keen to support founders in any vertical building companies that can generate huge financial returns while creating real social or environmental impact. We particularly love supporting teams in climate tech, synthetic biology, platform therapeutics, healthcare, connectivity, and space. We’re also excited by possibilities enabled by Web3.

  10. We love helping translate breakthrough research into world positive companies, and we run multiple programs for PhDs interested in starting companies or getting into venture. We also host a podcast on translating science.

  11. We want to prove that backing only truly important companies solving the world's biggest problems is a great way of generating huge profits. We've done a great job so far, with our Fund I at ~10x and our Fund II off to a similar start. But we’re only just getting started.

Are you trying to solve one of the world’s biggest problems via entrepreneurship? Do you want the most mission-aligned, value-add investors backing you? Do you want to join our team? Drop us a line: hello@fiftyyears.com.

Are you as excited about this as we are? 😁👇
